Prior to the current position, Dr. Heinrich Frye is Head of Department at the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics (IML) and leads the Project Center Aviation Logistics at Frankfurt Main Airport. He is responsible for the management of industrial projects with airports, airlines and other industry partners as well as for the a pplied research in the field of "aviation logistics." During his time with Fraunhofer he has been responsible for a variety of international and domestic projects for the air transport industry, assisting airlines, forwarders and airports worldwide with a series of logistics planning and optimization projects as analyses, developments, and realisations of cargo networks, cargo sites, cargo terminals, IT - concepts and process optimisation, apron logistics and aircraft handling, or capacity assessment and defi ning of expansion requirements.

He graduated in mechanical engineering/production technology at the University of Dortmund, Germany. He joined the Fraunhofer IML in 1986, initially as a project coordinator for a large interdisciplinary applied research p roject in air cargo at Deutsche Lufthansa in Frankfurt.

In 1990 he founded the Fraunhofer IML branch office at Frankfurt Main Airport, which has been managed since 1997 as a Fraunhofer Project Center. In addition to his professional activities he is a lec turer in the field of Aviation Logistics at the Technical Universities of Darmstadt, Dortmund and Kassel, the International School of Management Frankfurt, and the Euro - FH Hamburg. He is Member of the Board of the Air Cargo Club Germany since 2004.
